Who Is a Candidate for VAX-D Spinal Decompression?

Here at Hiler Chiropractic & Neurology, we have one of the most experienced teams in the Southeast when it comes to VAX-D spinal decompression treatments. These treatments spur natural healing of discs that have been put under undue pressure, allowing those areas where disc material has suffered from bulging or hernias to be drawn back into their proper place.

We have regularly had great success with patients who suffer from herniated intervertebral discs—we estimate the treatment is effective in providing relief in 80 to 90 percent of cases we take on. However, this success rate is so high because we only take on patients for this treatment who we believe can truly benefit from it. This is not a treatment that everyone who suffers from lower back pain can expect to provide positive results in their case.

Evaluating potential patients

So what makes someone a candidate for VAX-D spinal decompression in Naples, FL?

We typically consider VAX-D spinal decompression for patients with lower back pain symptoms that have not shown significant improvement within four to eight weeks with other treatments, including physical therapy, medicine and chiropractic sessions. It is a possibility for any patients who have been diagnosed with discogenic pain, including patients with radiculopathy.
Most candidates for VAX-D treatments have undergone an MRI that showed one or more disc pathologies, including bulges, herniation, annular tears, degeneration or stenosis. Some of the conditions spinal decompression can treat include bulging, degenerated or herniated discs, ruptured and protruding discs of the cervical and lumbar spine, facet syndrome, sciatica, stenosis and mild spondylolisthesis.

These treatments are also an option for some patients who suffer from osteoarthritis, although typically advanced osteoarthritis cannot be reliably treated with decompression therapy.

We make it a standard practice to conduct a thorough patient evaluation before recommending and/or performing any VAX-D spinal decompression treatment to ensure this is a treatment from which the patient can benefit. Your doctor will first thoroughly examine your medical history, then perform a physical evaluation, paying close attention to your back and discs. After this examination, the doctor will review all available data and combine it with any other complexities that may be involved. Based on all the information and evidence they have available, they can then determine if you qualify for VAX-D spinal decompression.

If the doctor does determine you qualify for VAX-D treatment, we highly recommend you go through with it. As mentioned already, we have a high rate of success with the treatment. You have a good chance of obtaining relief from the pain associated with all the above listed conditions and problems, and can avoid more costly and time-consuming medical practices, plus a litany of drugs, injections, epidurals, surgeries and other medical processes that might only provide short-term fixes. A follow-up study indicates that 91 percent of VAX-D patients are still pain-free four years after receiving the procedure.
